Weighted blanket on a bed
Sleep & Calm

Mosaic Weighted Blanket (10 lb)

Cut Eli's bedtime time-to-sleep from 45 min to 18 min on average over a month. Made a real difference for him; honestly didn't notice anything for our daughter.

Skill of the Day โ€” Visual Schedule Set

Magnet-backed, dishwasher-safe, big enough to read from across the kitchen. We're on year three with the same set.

Tangle Jr Therapy Fidget

Quiet. Pocket-sized. Survived the school washing machine twice. The fidget our teachers actually approved of.

Books for Parents

Smart but Scattered โ€” Dawson & Guare

The one book I recommend to every newly-diagnosed parent. Practical, kind, and the executive-function framework actually clicks.

My Brain Needs Glasses โ€” Annick Vincent

For ages 8+. Eli read it twice in the week after his diagnosis. The metaphor stuck. He still uses it to explain himself.

Wooden timer device
Focus & Fidgets

Time Timer 8" Visual Timer

A simple red disk that shrinks as time passes. Took the abstraction out of "five more minutes." Best $40 we ever spent.

What we tried and removed

A few things we recommended last year that we no longer use, with the reason. We update this list quarterly because we'd rather tell you what didn't work than pretend we never tried it.

  • Concentration capsules (a chewable supplement) โ€” no effect for our kid after 8 weeks. Pediatrician was lukewarm. Removed in March.
  • A heavily-marketed meditation app for kids โ€” UX too complicated for under-10s in our experience. The voice felt scripted. Headspace's free family content was more useful.
  • A popular ADHD-branded planner for tweens โ€” Too many fields. Eli stopped using it in week two. We went back to a 3-column whiteboard.
